Ottawa psychologist Dr. Jan Heney is a licensed Clinical Psychologist in private practice who is currently accepting new clients. Dr. Heney holds both a Ph. D. in Psychology and a Masters in Social Work, is a member of several professional organizations, consults in a variety of settings, and has been called as an expert witness in several inquests and legal proceedings to testify on issues related to adult survivors of child abuse.

She works collaboratively with clients to establish an effective therapeutic program that helps them improve their sense of well-being and reach their life goals. With couples, Dr. Heney works on bringing partners from conflict to mutual respect, understanding, and appreciation.

In addition to individual and couple counselling, Dr. Heney is well known as a public speaker and educator among Ottawa psychologists and other mental health professionals. She conducts popular training seminars for mental health workers and clinicians on a variety of topics including: compassion fatigue, boundaries, working with survivors of childhood abuse, self-injurious behaviour, suicide intervention, dealing with violent clients, and women's violence.
